What We Do

ABOUT OUR SPIRAL PIPE COATING SERVICE

Spiral pipe coating services in the Philippines involve applying a protective layer to the interior and exterior surfaces of spiral-welded steel pipes to defend against corrosion, abrasion, chemical attack, and environmental degradation. Spiral-welded pipes — formed from steel coils wound into a helix and seam-welded — are widely used in water supply
systems, sewerage, drainage, oil and gas pipelines, piling, and structural applications across Philippine infrastructure projects.

Without effective coating, these pipes are vulnerable to accelerated corrosion in the humid tropical environment and in direct contact with soil, seawater, or corrosive process fluids. At Regan Industrial Sales Inc., our spiral pipe coating service offers a full range of external and internal coating systems matched to the specific pipeline environment,
construction status, and regulatory specification of each project.

External Coatings

FBE, 3LPE, 3LPP, and coal tar enamel for buried and exposed pipelines.

Internal Coatings

Land transport for Luzon; containerized sea freight for Visayas and Mindanao

Surface Preparation Included

Abrasive blasting to Sa 2.5 / Sa 3 performed before all coating applications.

Industry-Standard Systems

Coating types specified to AWWA, ISO, and project engineer requirements.

EXTERNAL & INTERNAL COATING TYPES

Steel beam being prepared for galvanizing

FUSION-BONDED EPOXY (FBE)

Fusion-Bonded Epoxy coating is applied by heating the pipe to approximately 200–240°C and electrostatically spraying epoxy powder onto the hot surface.

The heat melts the powder and fuses it into a continuous, void-free thermoset film that adheres at the molecular level to the steel substrate. FBE provides excellent cathodic disbondment resistance, making it the primary coating choice for steel pipelines subject to impressed current cathodic protection systems.

Application Method Electrostatic spray onto preheated pipe (200– 240°C)
Typical Dry FilmThickness 350–500 μm
Key Properties Cathodic disbondment resistance, chemical resistance
Best For Gas distribution, potable water mains, sewage pressure pipes
Steel beam being prepared for galvanizing

THREE-LAYER POLYETHYLENE (3LPE) & POLYPROPYLENE (3LPP)

Three-layer polyethylene (3LPE) coating consists of a fusion-bonded epoxy primer, a polyolefin adhesive layer, and an outer high-density polyethylene (HDPE) jacket applied in sequence.

The three-layer system combines the adhesion and cathodic disbondment resistance of FBE with the mechanical protection, impact resistance, and water-vapor barrier of the HDPE outer layer.

Layers FBE primer + adhesive + PE or PP jacket
3LPE Operating Temp Up to 60°C (PE) / 3LPP up to 110°C+
Key Properties High mechanical protection, water-vapor barrier, impact resistance
Best For Buried pipelines, subsea, offshore, high- temperature service
Steel beam being prepared for galvanizing

CEMENT MORTAR LINING (CML) & INTERNAL EPOXY

Cement mortar lining is applied to the internal bore of steel water pipes by centrifugal spinning — the mortar is fed into the rotating pipe and spreads to a uniform thickness by centrifugal force, then cures to form a hard, smooth alkaline surface that passivates the steel and inhibits corrosion from transported water.

CML Application Centrifugal spinning — uniform thickness throughout bore
CML Thickness 6mm standard (per AWWA C205 or equivalent)
Internal Epoxy DFT 250–400 μm (specification dependent)
Best For Potable water mains, wastewater, process chemical pipelines

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is spiral pipe coating?

Spiral pipe coating is the application of a protective layer to spiral welded steel pipes to help reduce corrosion, moisture damage, chemical exposure, and surface deterioration during installation and service.

What types of coatings can be applied to spiral pipes?

Coating options may include protective primers, epoxy-based coatings, bituminous coatings, polyurethane coatings, and other project-specified systems. The appropriate coating depends on the pipe application, exposure conditions, required durability, and technical specifications.

Why should spiral steel pipes be coated?

Coating helps protect spiral pipes from corrosion and environmental exposure, particularly when they are used underground, underwater, outdoors, or in industrial settings. Proper coating can help extend the service life of the pipe and improve long-term performance.

Can both the internal and external surfaces of spiral pipes be coated?

Yes. Depending on the project requirements, spiral pipes may receive external coating, internal lining, or both. The coating system should be selected based on the transported material, installation environment, surface condition, and required protection standard.

What information should I provide when requesting a spiral pipe coating quotation?

Provide the pipe diameter, wall thickness, length, quantity, surface condition, required coating system, coating thickness, application environment, delivery location, and target schedule. Technical specifications or project drawings can help the team assess the requirements.
